SSG Gary Stagman
"Sergeant Intruder"

1966-1970

Gary Stagman was most likely the longest serving member of the 281st AHC.  He was a member of the 281st Avn. Co. (Airmobile) when it was organized at Ft. Benning, GA, in March of 1965.  He arrived in Vietnam with the assigned aircraft of the 281st AHC that were transported by USNS Breton from the U.S. of A.  He was on the first aircraft off the ship in Vungtau, tail # 724.  And he remained in the unit, except for a brief period in 1969, until it's deactivation in December 1970.

Accordingly, SSG Stagman accumulated over 400 pictures of his tours in Vietnam, the 281st AHC, the 483rd Maintenance Det., and many other aspects of the Vietnam experience.  The Intruders are eternally grateful for his photographic history, as well as his faithful service then and now (as Association Senior Member-at-Large).  His pictures are arranged by subject category below.  Click on the links.
